em, well it is. But you are probably thinking of the 'other' CloneDVD that came out a few months ago (blatently ripping of Elby's name). That wasn't an Elby product.
But Elby have created their version of Clone DVD a few months ago - www.elby.ch
It won't rip CSS protected dvds because it is a legal minefield that Elby don't want to get involved with. 321 Studios are involved in a lengthy court battle because they bypass the CSS protection in their software.

So use Smartripper or DVD Decrypter and be done with it.

To avoid legal trouble, CloneDVD is JUST a transcoder, not a ripper.

However, a "new" company (really just Elby doing business in a different country) called Slysoft... has released AnyDVD, which is the REAL-TIME ripping component to CloneDVD. Yeah, that's right. It runs in the background, and renders ANY AND EVERY DVD you insert deprotected, de-macrovisioned, de-regioned, and also removes PUO (prohibited user operations).

Nifty, eh?

clone dvd

Clone DVD = quality, however not fully compatible with burning dvd+r on my Pioneer 106. Other formats fine.
Anydvd = quality, no problems, does what it says. I dare you to rip with out it, using a protected dvd and clone. It wont work.
Nero 6 = Excellent, great burner, no problems.
I have a new method one which works perfect for me.
With some advice from DUDE(and big pockets.com) and using some savvy.
Have anydvd working in the background, use clone dvd to rip the video ts files to the harddrive. Then use nero 6 to burn the files, just drag the video ts files across to nero, name the dvd and burn away.
For me this has worked perfect 10 out of 10 times.
Its so easy.

I have an easier way.

Set AnyDVD running, then drag the files off the DVD to your hard disc, and burn 'em back with any program you feel like.

yes but with clone you can strip the sound and the bits you want, infact several different soundtracks and just the movie. can you do that. without clone (i havent tried)? I might be wrong but clone also shrinks the movie if that is still to big for one disc. You can correct me on that aswell if im wrong.
My point is anyone can do it, so why is there people who cant do it. Like you say there are easier ways.

Hi Everyone,

I have installed CloneDVD and AnyDVD but the AnyDVD doesn't seem to do its work.

I have already set up the AnyDVD and it is active in the commend bar. When I want to open the DVD in CloneDVD, it said that the DVD is protected and can't let me carry on. It means that the AnyDVD can't Rip the DVD for me.

I have installed them as administrator and do all the things according to instruction but it still can't work. Why?

Does anyone knows what is wrong?

My computer had Window 98 and Window Pro. 2000, Motherboard is ASUS and DVD burner is iomega.

If you know why, could you let me know?

Thanks for your help.

Stella

any dvd

it sounds like any dvd is :
a) run out of trial
b) the crack you have installed is dodgy
c) you have updated since the crack
all of the above have happened to me.
The only way you can get out of it is find someway of deleting all the files and reinstalling, or format your harddrive and start again.
Every crack i have used has run out after updating. I am going to pay for it, it makes sense. It is a good program. Although £25 is a bit steep for such a small program. Its also worth trying dvdcopy xpress. I have got it but never used it. It decrypts the dvd aswell.
Hopefully that has helped a bit.
Also now clone dvd burns dvd+r on the pioneers which is good.
There are several other programs on the net aswell but i havent tried any.

Hi 7even,

Thanks for you advice.

May I ask you does dvdcopy express work well with CloneDVD? Does it work at the background as Any DVD does?

Best Regards

Stella

dvd copy xpress

No, dvd copy xpress does it all. it needs no other program. It decrypts, shrinks and burns. I havent used it tho, because i am happy with the anydvd and clonedvd set up.

clonedvd

u just select the file where the dvd is, it auto selects video ts dont worry about audio thats done auto. u just highlight the audio you want at a later stage. say 3/6 (5.1 surround) then continue. its so simple follow the instructions. u have 3 options where to rip. I usually go to the hard drive or dvdrw drive. if you rip to the hard drive. use nero 6 and select dvd video files. then just drag the video ts file (where the movie is located) into the empty red video ts file. follow instructions then burn. its easier if you rip straight to the dvdrw.
Clone dvd, i usually just rip the movie. for better quality. u can rip the whole dvd or just select what u want. it will tell u the quality. if you r not happy u can go back and start again.
