Final Fantasy 8 Backup

How can I backup FF8, I've already ruined several CD's, I downloaded some patches... and lots of them don't work, and then i found one for my FF8 (PAL version) and I burned the patched image and it was totally ####ed... Does anyone know the right way to copy FF8???

b.t.w. I have the (legal) Dutch PAL version of FF8...

Sorry for kicking such an old topic back up again, but I have the same problem.

Anyway, my CD3 of FF8 was damaged, there was a little scratch on it, so it would hang on the movie where you got shot into outer space. (After getting kicked out of the Lunatic Pandora with Zell's party)

I tried to copy it with CloneCD, but it didn't work, since it gave read errors, and then stopped reading it. (At 72%)
Later on an acquaintance suggested to try and burn it too. And so I gave the CD3 to him. It succeeded, but what I didn't know, is that it had a security on it =( So the PSX logo came up on my PSX but after that, it was just a black screen.

I tried to use a crack that I found on the internet, for the PAL version. (Mine is an original CD from The Netherlands as well, so a Europian version) Anyway, he brought his PC over, to try it again, but still no work yet. I'm currently reading some stuff on what software to use, and what the requirements are... But I hope you can give me some info on what to do as well...

PS: I'm no professional in PSX burning, more like a newbie to it. So please be as specific as you can =)

Thanks.

Edit: The crack I used, was CHEN's PAL crack. So for the PAL version (Europian, whatever..)

Why not just try a disc repairer or go rent the game?

They weren't renting the game anymore, they said to me that it was out of buseniss, that game -_-

And I want to make a backup of the game anyhow, incase something really bad happens to it. So that I always have a backup. (A long time ago my FF7 CD1 was damaged, but unrecoverable, so that's why I don't want it to happen again)

Ok....
Tried to use that other patch now, for UK/PAL (ff8ukv2.zip)
But now it won't load the movies at all.....
I used CloneCD with PSX LibCrypt or something, and set the burning speed at 1x. It should be ok right....?
