Playing import DVD Games

Hi I have a UK PS2 and used to use the AR2 slide card to open drive tray to swap back-ups method, I have been off the scene 4 a while and I was just wondering if it's possible to play DVD import games (EG Silent Hill 2 Original) using this method or if a mod chip has to be used.

ThanX in Advance Uz.

i would have to say that u can play imported games, but have mod chip just in case.

Neo4 and Messiah are both vapour at the moment but wait until they are ready and choose one.

Read the DVD backup booting tutorial on www.sgt-dan.com.

You can't boot import originals.

Well done. Can you confirm that the Sgt Dan boot method worked? Details of your modchip and boot method would help others.

No bother.

I have a PAL PS2 v3 I think (Got it about a month after launch was one of the first UK batch) I have NEO 2.2 and use Action Replay 2 v1.9.

The copy was made 1:1 using Primo DVD v2.0 using my Pioneer a03 and a Philips DVD ROM, the copy was on the fly read spead 8x write speed 2x and took about a hour.

To boot.

1. Start PS2 with AR 1.9 (I hear 1.7 works2) and u must be holding the reset button down.

2. when the AR2 main screen comes up press eject (Still holding reset) and swap ur AR2 with a boot DVD EG DOA2 (Origonal) and press eject to close, wait about 10 seconds or until u hear the DVD stop spinning

3. Select without codes (Still holding reset)

4. When the screen comes up saying insert PS2 disc and press X to continue, release the reset button and your tray should come out (You have between 4 and 6 seconds) to swap DVD with ur DVDr and let the tray close.

5. Press X and wait for ur game to boot ;-)

Here are a few other methods (Not tested)

NEO 2

1) Turn on the ps2 with AR2 1.7/GS V1.9 (holding down the ON/RESET)
2) Select Start Game (Still Holding ON/Reset)
3) Press EJECT (while still holding the ON/RESET button) and swap AR21.7/GS V1.9 with DVD Game (Has to have large TOC DOA2 is best 4.5GB TOC)
4) Press EJECT to close (Wait 10 seconds)
5) Then select WITHOUT CODES. Wait until disc stops.
6) Now let go of reset and the tray comes out, Swap DOA2/Original DVD for a backup DVDR press X.

Neo Key

1) Turn on the ps2 with AR2 1.7/GS V1.9
2) Select Start Game
3) Press EJECT and swap AR21.7/GS V1.9 with DVD Game (Has to have large TOC DOA2 is best 4.5GB TOC)
4) Press EJECT to close (Wait 10 seconds)
5) Then select WITHOUT CODES. Wait until disc stops.
6) Now perform Knife/Cog trick, Swap DOA2/Original DVD for a backup DVDR press X.

Cog/Knife Method

1) Turn on the ps2 with AR2 1.7/GS V1.9
2) Select Start Game
3) Press EJECT and swap AR21.7/GS V1.9 with DVD Game (Has to have large TOC DOA2 is best 4.5GB TOC)
4) Press EJECT to close (Wait 10 seconds)
5) Then select WITHOUT CODES. Wait until disc stops.
6) Now perform Knife/Cog trick, Swap DOA2/Original DVD for a backup DVDR press X.

Hope this helps.
