Weird noises? Like is it singing to you, screaming, a bunch of beebs, or what?
Does it sound like its trying to load the cd? Does the game load? Do you here
voices? Please be more specific.

it sounds to me like you are talking about a game that is too small on the cd and needs dummy files added to it...once the game has been pushed to the outer rings of the cd it wont make those grinding noises....

i had some problems like this. the original releases of mdk2, mr driller, mk gold, would make the grinfing laser noises. some of the early DC releases are either small or some of the groups rearranged the files out of order from what i recall, which made the laser jump around to find the files it needed.

i have since come across rereleases of most of these 3 titles mdk2 (now self booting, mr. driller (dummied i think), mk gold (was rereleased w cdda) the rereleases eliminated the weird grinding noise for me.
