Unreal 2003 Upgrading

Let's say I have a certain version of Unreal Tournament 2003 and so I install it and replace it with an EXE so I can play it. If I upgrade it, can I use a new EXE that works with the newer version and would everything still work?

Theres is no guarantee that the latest exe will work on your system.

If you're asking how much of a risk it is to patch the game to the latest version and not being able to play anymore, buy the game.
