Do Backups RUIN your DC?

Someone told me that backups cause your DC to spin 4 times more...eventually causing a motor burn. Let me know fellas.

well...i do notice the motor/laser head does take in abit more work when playing some backups...so resorting to abit of extra heat generated...but its nuffin the drive wasnt designed for anyway...cd drives will wear out every now and then...just a matter of chance =)
