Problem Booting PS1 with DMS3

I just recently bought a pre-modded PS2 V7 with a DMS3 v2.0 chip. Now, for some reason whenever I try to boot PS1 backups, the system just goes straight to the browser and recognizes the disc as a PS2 disc. It seems to me like the system isn't booting into the different modes available. I can't go into Dev. mode, PS2 mode, PSX mode, or DVD mode. However, it does play all PS2 backups perfectly by just letting it run through (meaning without pressing a button for the appropriate mode). Also, I have been able to install programs on the card without a problem as well as the Dev. browser so the chip seems to be working. Does anyone know anything I can do to get these different modes to boot? Do any of you think it might be the installation even though it does put things on the memory card (even though it doesn't boot them from the memory card). Any tips, help, suggestions or whatever else would be appreciated greatly. Thank you.

Thanks for the reply. I did try to press all the different types of buttons. I've tried pressing the circle button, triangle, square, and the X, but nothing works. I know you are supposed to press the circle button to start up PS1 backups, but for some reason, the system just does not pick up the mode I'm trying to boot it in. I can't even boot in Dev. mode. I'm trying to see if maybe someone has had a similar problem and if they actually got it fixed. Maybe its an installation problem, but the installer told me that if it boots up PS2 backups and installs things on the memory card...then the chip is supposed to be working correctly and it has nothing to do with the installation. Anyone else have another suggestion?

can you update to the latest software (1.6c, i think) if you can't then I would take a look at the wiring.

edit:
forgot to ask if sleep mode works?

No, I can't update because you need to hold the select for that, and the system doesn't boot in any other mode but PS2 mode. I just tried putting it in standby/stealth and seems like its not working. I pressed the eject and held it for a couple of seconds while it was during standby. It still boots up the PS2 backups so I guess its not working because it should disable the chip correct?

yes doing that should disable the chip, I would suggest you check the wiring, make sure that the eject wire (connection "C") is where is supposed to be.

Hey, thanx a lot kooldraco. Do you think that maybe that wire would also have something to do with the other modes not booting up?

I really don't know. If everything is good with the wiring then you might just have a faulty chip.
