is it my ps2 laser or my messiah 2 chip??

Everything Non dvd work perfectly, until i put in something thats a dvd, thats original or imports or dvd movies. Dvd movies just freeze after it plays, original and imports have these patchy green blocks when playing fmv's and when it tries to load the game, it'll just freeze. when i deactivate the messiah, same problem persists, i speculate its my dvd reader, but i just want to get other ppl's inputs. if it is my laser, any suggestions on how to fix this (besides the most obvious, clean the lense with cd cleaner).

I'm not the Messiah expert in this forum, but I do recall that there's a common miswiring problem that has the symptoms you describe.

i've had the chip in there for 2 months and everything was working fine until last night when i was watching a dvd. the dvd just froze on me. i woke up this morning and its not working. also tried cleaning the laser head, but that did nothing. sigh......
the i also get these black dashed lines in some of the games (e.g. FFX) at the company logo screen.

I'll let you look up laser replacement on the forum or on the web. PS2 Spares is a good keyword. The job needs a specialist in my opinion.

do you think i should take it apart and take a look at whats going on inside? the thing is that the place i got it modded put this stupid "void if sticker is tampered" sticker over one of the holes........reminds me of the super famicom disk drives.

Try take it back to where you mod you machine and tell them it is not working. Have them take a look for you.

What is the booting procedure you use. I don't know... but is it normal that mod shop put a void sticker on your case... that sounds cheesy... I wonder if you really got a M2 chip inside.

thats why i've been wondering if i should open up the ps2 to check, but then they prolly won't fix it for me if i bring it back to them, i dunno, most asian modders are like that. also afraid that if i open it up and put it back, won't even be able to play psx games.

regarding the booting procedure, the most basic one where ps2 imports and originals is just hitting the reset, while ps games its holding it till the blue light comes up, hitting reset twice for dvd movies.

Yep, like charlie said, this happens to alot of the earlier consoles. Its also why i wouldnt mod anything older than a v5. You can look around for a replacement laser or you may want consider buying a new console....Good luck with it.
