From what I have heard, dvd2one is a little bit better than dvd shrink. I have tried xpress and was pretty impressed with it on my regular tv, but I now have a HD tv so I only use regualr dvd x copy. Here is the xpress link.

I've used both DVD shrink & Xpress.
I used some dodgy disc with shrink quality was Ok but the further you got into the movie, it would stick, jump. Backed up Moulin Rouge (just as a test) with xpress and a different brand of DVD. Played it last night seemed to be fine

I recently tried all three programs DVD X Copy, DVD Xpress and DVD Shrink. I used the movie Dirty Dancing for the test which probably wasn't the greatest of choices because it is a grainy movie anyway, but I couldn't tell the difference between all three on my ordinary 68 cm television.
Although I like DVD Shrink, ultimately I used DVD Xpress for its ease of use. Personally I think all three programs have their place in the back up world depending on the movie you are backing up. If a movie-only is going to fit on a single disk then use XCopy of course. Xpress is good for a movie-only back up of something that's not too large. DVD shrink is simple to use if you want to back up everything and are prepared to sacrifice quality in some areas to fit it all in. I can't speak for those with HD TV or super eyesight of course

Well, level 8 is pretty severe compression.
If a movie is that big, I just split it up onto two discs... DVD XCopy is great for that. - Gurm |

i really like dvdxcopy xpress, i can't tell the difference (on a regular tv) between regular dvd's and the "compressed" dvd's so it seems to be all good, like it a lot you should try it
