here comes trouble
i was surfing d net and came across this bit of news..
It appears some of $ony's BIG developers have now focused anti-piracy efforts on both USB and Memory Card dongle protection for titles scheduled to be released as early as Fall 2003. This means PPF's will likely be necessary to 'crack' the affected games prior to doing 1:1 back-ups, as EVERY chip owner and swapper will be unable to play these back-ups without any ISO modification. Simply put- Every time the disc reads, the dongle will be checked... and the bytes to patch will likely differ with each game/developer. what do u guys and gals think about it?>

I read this somewhere else as well and am a bit confused, by dongle they mean Gameshark and AR correct? Also I dont understand the USB Protection either...

Personally...
I DOUBT it..... The reason is, that NOT everyone has a memory card and the game manufacturers are not going to want to supply one in EVERY game they sell.... If they do go this way, they are going to LOOSE ALOT of sales due to the increase in price.... Regardless, if it DOES happen IT WILL BE CRACKED....... A human invents it, a human WILL CRACK IT.....

Personally, I can't see it happening as it will only cause problems with software / hardware combinations and cost. For example, the Safedisc v4 protection was an idol threat as the PS2 Console wouldn't understand the protection anyway would it??? So personally, I can't see this happening, and even if it does, it will be cracked!!!

it was only a matter of time before we saw a new generation of protection like this on a console really
...it may take 10 humans to build the protection, but it will take many many more to crack it...
