Sorry but I have to say this. Don't be such a retard! The Shen Mue game CD you have is a self-booting CD. Just place the game cd into the dremacast then switch it on without using the boot cd. The game should boot itself up and run automatically. You can thank me later.

Ok I guess that you turned your selfboot of Shenmue into a nonselfboot since you say that it freezes at 95%... selfbooting games don't show anything when you insert the boot disk first.
The best thing that you might try is find someone who has a burner that can write a working selbooting Shenmue.
If it's impossible then try some of the different workarounds that are on the net!
Go to www.cdrom-guide.com forum in the DC backups section you might something that is working for you. Before asking there do a little research with the forum search engine.

What? How can someone turn a ready made self-boot CD into a non slef-boot cd? I know its possible but the guy we're talking about here used a boot cd before placing the game cd into his dreamcast. The natural assumption is that this guy doesn't know about it. The game is self-booting because I have many friends who have done the same dumb thing with thier dreamcasts and had me cussing them.

I think this guy is having the same problem i'm having.
I own a Jap DC, but bought (yes, bought) the US version of Shenmue.
I thought booting with the Utopia boot disk would work, but as the original poster says, it hangs at 96%

Anybody got any ideas how to make this work ????

thanks,
-p

Justy remember, cdi files are self-boot, non-self comes in cue files. I had understand that the Utopia Disk helps import games to boot up.
