Lightbulb With or without CDDA...

Hi there,

I'm new to Sega Dreamcast backups. I have a few games that arn't self-boot, I was reading the tutorial on Console Gaming World (http://www.megagames.com/dc/dc_selfboot_tutorial.shtml) on how to change these games into 'Self-Booting' games. I see it is split into two parts, one for games with CDDA, and one for those without CDDA. The tutorial doesn't inform the reader of what CDDA is, or how to tell weather the game is with or without CDDA, so I was wondering if there was someone in here who knows and can tell me how to tell which of my non-Self-Booting games are with CDDA and which are without CDDA, so that I can follow the right instructions to turn them into Self-Booting games.

Thank you.

CDDA are audio data tracks.
If your game has such audio tracks, it is a "CDDA game". If it's got only 1 data track, it's not.

Talking Just look for audio files?

Brilliant, thanks for replying to both of my threads. So do I tell which on it is by placing the CD into my CD Drive, and when looking at it's contents, if I see Audio files such as Wav's and MP3's I know it's CDDA, but if not, it is not CDDA?

Not really. You won't find any mp3 files and cdda tracks will not be visible if you were to just look at the cd contents using explorer.

There are many different ways to check whether your game/s contain cdda tracks. I usually check it by right clicking on the cdrom icon in my computer then properties. After that i click on the Volumes tab and there i get a listing of all the tracks whether they're audio or data sessions.
*note: you need to have Nero Burning Rom installed otherwise you won't have the Volumes tab in cdrom properties.

You can also put the cd in your stereo or windows cdplayer or winamp, etc. If there are multiple tracks and if you can hear the music when you try playing them then your game contains cdda.

m8 you have some reading to do cuz making a selfboot cd requires you to know how to rip the cdda tracks
