Thumbs down connecting to my pc

just got all the right bits for connecting my xbox to my pc rj45 lead flash fxp etc. problem changed all the address and booted xbox off evox disk still can not detect xbox. using windows xp all that it say is cable unplugged or something like that can anyone help.

Check where you plug in the cable..

There should be a green light if it's orange it may be the cable, or an end but basically a cable unplugged error on means it can't detect the connection.

Maybe you got the wrong "bits!?"

"all the right bits" isn't exactly a technical term so I don't really know what you've got - so how can I say what's wrong?

sounds to me you only have a standard network cable. you need a cross over cable ie wires line up differentley at each end standard cable has the wires in the same order at each end..

hey it's not a very technical description but it's accurate.
