clonecd slowdown while reading

I have used CloneCD as the program I use for backups for quite some time now. I have not had to backup any games of late as I have been busy with other things such as backing up my DVD collection. Now, after perhaps 2 months of not using CloneCD, I am trying to backup Iron Storm, but it will not read to iso on disk 2. It starts off ok at 1x, and after about 20 seconds, it drops to 0.00 and stays there. I have tried both dvd-rom drives. I don't think it is the game as I tried backing it up on my old computer without any trouble. ASPI Layer is up to date. Operating WindowsXP Pro. I am thinking this has to do with the program more than the game since my friend had a similar problem and fixed it by system restore. Any ideas?
