"rip" CD to DVD

Hi,

Bit of an odd question. I see many guides for ripping DVD based games to CDs. Is it possible to do the reverse? Anyone able to point me in the direction of any guides that might confirm or deny the possibility? The reason I want to know is immaterial, so no why????????????? type of replies please

All the best.
Andrw

Your question is a little unclear. I assume that you are talking about taking an already ripped CD and returning it to full DVD. this would kind of be pointless. Find the rip kit that was used to make the rip. Look at all the files that it tells you to delete. Then use your original to get all the files that you need to replace them with. It would go something like that. What I don't think that you are talking about is playing CD based games on a DVD. I recently did some research into this and there is a program that works. Unfortunatly the CD based games will not work on a DVD. There is some type of information stored on the disc thatidentifies it as a CD and therefore when it is played on a DVd it is rejected by the console. This program does work however for multiple games on one CD. Hope your answer is in there somewhere.

Thanks for the reply.

It was the latter that I was after - putting an original CD game onto a DVD. I have done a fair amount of searching around but had failed to come up with an answer.

BG, PSX Paul, and I have all tried to get this program to work. Closest that we can get it to get the program itself to boot but when a game is selected it goes back to the browser. This problem will probably never be resolved as there is not enough interest in it for someone to create some sort of patch utility to switch CD games to DVD.

Hmmm... there's a demo disk tutorial at megagames that you might find interesting...

EDIT: Oops, forget that! It's CDR not DVDR related.

psx_paul is on a distinguished road
The program that Headly refers to can be found here

Have a try yourself, here is the contents of the readme file enclosed in the zip

Quote:
PS2 Game Selector - alpha version

1) You'll need to copy 2 (or more CDs) to a directory on your hard drive.
Hopefully the games won't share any of the same files or directories.
If they do, then this probably won't work.
I believe the PS2 has a 30 file limit per directory, so don't pick games
that have a lot of files in the root directory.
2) Use this system.cnf file. Ignore the other ones.
3) Edit the games.txt file in the following format: (1 line per game)
Game Name;executable

The executable is pretty easy to pick out. It usually has the word SCUS or SLUS in it.
If 2 games have the same name, you can rename one of them to something else. If you
are having trouble, look at the games systen.cnf file in notepad. (first line).
3) Build CD. I've been using the cdgenPS2 util I've included. Include all the files from all the games,
the main.elf, system.cnf, and games.txt included with this in the root.
4) Burn and Hope it works.
5) If it doens't work, oh well.
As Headly pointed out, none of us have got it to work properly
