You only want a 4 wire chip then, Hell, I'll give you one of my used pulls, if you're in North America! - jprcus (at yahoo . com)

I like to use wire wrap, you can tear apart a little 3 volt electric motor and unwind some. The laminated coating will melt away where you solder it. If you have a 7 wire diagram, just use pins 1,5,6,8 and ignore the 3 extra points for stealth chips, it should work.

You have 5-8 backwards.

With the notch at the top and looking at the marked side:

1- -8
2---7
3---6
4---5

That diagram should work, careful of point 6, I’ve taken off a few microcaps by mistake. The tip of my iron is abut 3 times bigger than one of those little yellow capacitors. You get the solder on the tip of the wire first, touch it to the side of the capacitor and touch an edge of the iron to the wire for just a second and it should bond. You might want to practice on a junk PC board or something with microcaps.

Problems with the Modification chip in my Sony PsOne

Hi there,

Just thought that since you guys seem to know what your talking about you may be able to help me. I got a "professional" to stick a Mod-Chip in my Sony PsOne. I believe it was a 4-wire one, can't say for sure. Anyways, he claims he did it properly, but a lot of my games struggly to load on it - I get a red screen reading something like 'please insert original Playstation disc'. I will admit it doesn't happen to all the games, and usually after a few goes it will work fine. Do you reckon this is a proplem with the cheap C.D.'s I have used in the past, or with the Mod-Chip?

Thank you,
Scott.

Sounds like a laser problem. Try burning a good brand like Verbatim or slower burning speed.
