What is THE ultimate PS2 mod chip?

Which is the best PS2 mod chip to get? I keep hearing about the external one, then there is the Neo 4 one, and many others. Which one is the best and most reliable?
And where can you get the better PS2 mod chip (which site offers better deals on the better PS2 mod chip?)

The ULTIMATE mod chip will be the one that hasn't arrived yet and which avoids having to swap your backup in after a boot disk. The two candidates are NEO 4 (http://www.playstationmods.com) and MESSIA (http://www.channeltechnology.com/).

The most widely used modcip (so far as I know) is NEO 2.x (playstationmods). Also there is http://www.modchip.com, which is the modchip I use; not necessarily the best.

Will there be a mod chip that will not require any kind of boot cd soon? Should I wait, or get the Neo 4 now?

Neither NEO4 nor MESSIAH are available yet although NEO4 was first supposed to be released August, then September, now October ....... Go to the indicated web sites and form your own opinion.
