Question dvd outlined backup

a friend of mines had mentioned to me a way that he heard to

back up dvd's , by using a marker to out-line around the outer

part of the dvd, not sure if true, but anyone has heard of this,

or have tried it ?? not sure if it would ruine a dvd movie, might

be best to try it out on a cheap one or something

He's probably talking about the old audio protection from Sony. It could be circumvented using a similar method - they've now fixed that problem but have since abandoned that protection scheme.
Definately not on dvds.

That reminded me about the old trick when you were told to trace a circle around a quarter 5 times. Then told to role it down your forehead. You were left with a lead streak down your forehead with for all to see except yourself.

Tyler!
