Can we please have full unambigious details of what is happenign. Full description of symptoms. From your not it isn't clear what turns off and on and without a full description of symptoms no diagnosis is possible.

OK how about this.

1. Does it turn completely off (like no power) or go back to standby?

2. Have you noticed any pattern in the amount of time you have it on until it turns off?

3. Does it tend to happen more with CD than DVD or vise versa?

4. Has this been happening the entire three months that it has been chipped or is it a recent developement?

... and is it, say, 20 mins then switches off or 3 mins?

Is the fan running?

Is the heat conducting pad present on the BA58 chip?

Is the heat conduct pad setup present on the metal cage above the EE chip?

Is the metal cage fully screwed down and the plastic cover on top of that?

If the PS2 is overheating, usually the red light will blink when it switches off.
