A long list of questions for the experts of the board!

Okay here I go....

I'm a noob so please go easy on me as I'm really just starting out. First my situation....my little brother loves my xbox but he tends to use the game discs as coasters hence forth I modded my system with the emigah X Chip a while back. I used the data burn technique with record now and I had no problems until the X2: Wolverine's Revenge. I know Microsoft added the new media check to their new games and I know of the copyhaunters XBEISO patcher but my real questions are this:

1) I was considering just going with a chip that I can upgrade the bios and removing the older chip...would this be a good idea?

2) Since I'm used to the data burn method, how would I use copyhaunters patcher exactly? And if I need to start making ISOs would would be a good program to use?

3) If I do opt for a new chip what would be a good recommendation? (I'm assuming the X2 lite but it is always good to ask the opinions of people who know better)

I really appreicate all the help you people can give me as I've been to a bunch of forums and this place seems to be the best there is. Thank you for your time

1.as long as your soldering skills are good enough not to **** up the motherboard i'd give a yes to it

2.you copy the deafult.xbe to your pc's hd, open up copyhaunters, click open, find the .xbe, click patch, decide a place to save it, and there you go, put the file it outputs in your dvd and it should all work fine

3.x2 lite is a great chip, but if you want one that is flashable you'll probably want the pro

I believe the X2 lite is flashable from EvoX. But if you screw up, you have to build a little programmer and fix it.

And as for patching. Forget all about it. When you get your new chip see what bios is on it. If it doesn’t have any thing above X2 4975, find X2 4975 and flash the bios to it. With this bios you won’t have to patch games, this bios will “auto-patch” the games. It wont really modify any part of the game, it just allows the game with the media check to plat like normal.

I had no problem flashing the X2 lite

In fact it was the easiest thing I put the bios in the c partition of the XBox went to the Evox dashboard clicked flash the picked the bios I wanted and voila

I have the x2 lite but i am considering buying a matrix...reason is u can flash everyone elses tsop easily....charge 20 bucks...3 boxes u made ur money back...also it is no solder....the only downfall about this chip is that there is only a 256k bios storage....but the new x2 bios(the ones for not patching games) u can get a colored bios for only 256k...and afte talking i have heard that this is going to be the last media check so u could be good for the rest of the xbox years...also the reason i dislike the x2 lite....even tho it is very easy to flash the bios if u mess it up it is hard to fix...either buy a 28 dollar program! or make one your self or do the swap chip.......and also the matrix is good because it is a no solder chip...(yes x2 lites and pros have this but for an extra 28 bucks!) so u think for 38 dolars for an x2 lite and 28 bucks for pogo pins..plus a programer if u have a bad flash....u do the math....x2 is a great team tho i have had my x2 lite for a while and it is a great and powerful chip

edit: Also the x2 pro is "the best chip" but I am not possitive on this but i dont think that u can flash the tsop that could make u alot of money wtih ur friends around u

I got the x2lite+($55) with pogo pins built in so I dont have them seperate I think its a great chip so far Im running x2 4976.02 bios and its doing fine for me. I think if you cant solder its your best bet but it is a little tricky trying to get the pogo pins to line up I had to gently and slowly scrape the (do) point but after I did went smooth. Hope this helps

That sounds interesting..

But can you explain that in laymans terms?? What do you mean flash your friends chips why couldn't they just use the evox self flash feature like I did??

Because evox won't be running on an unmodded Xbox. Basically the whole point of the mod is allowing non-MS code to run on the system.

I haven't seen any schematics to build a X2Lite programmer but I have seen them being sold.

Do you know anything about building one rms?

Thats kinda the down-fall of the X2 pogo pins, and X2 lite +. Theres really know way to know if you got it lined up right or not.
That kinda what I love about the Matrix. Its got LEDs on it to show you if its lined up right or not.

So then I'm gonna assume the matrix is the better chip then? Also I've heard the matrix really doens't work on v1.2 xbox due to the motherboard being different than the other xboxes but I dunno if it's true so if anybody has any information it would really be appreicated and I'm also gonna assume (stupid of me to assume since it's probably true, hell it's gotta be) that the matrix bios can be upgraded to by-pass the media check?

No the Matrix will not work on a Ver1.2 XBox. Unless you want to solder the D0. You have to do this b/c the D0 was moved.

And yes, it can be flashed with the new bios to by-pass the media check.

OKay then how exactly would you solder the D0? I'm sorry if my questions are getting annoying.

Well first of all I think you are assuming wrong about the matrix being you best bet but of course I could be the dumbass here but I think the x2lite and pro will be a better choice for you because the bios in the matrix is smaller than what a x2lite and pro have. Plus Im pretty sure the matrix team are releasing a new mod in the next week or two called chameleaon dont know if matrix make it but its a matrix add on if you already have the matrix chip or it can be a stand alone. If I was you and had the money and new how to solder I would go with the x2pro or chameleaon but if you dont have the extra money I would go with the x2lite+. hope this helps out just check around on different forums and see what best fits you.

::nods:: interesting....well I'm probably gonna go with x2lite+ unless I get this job (cemetery grounds keeper! Exciting!) cuz I'm far from having a wad of cash in my pocket. But I'm really confident with my solder skillz. Then all I'll need is the bios.

Well if you confident with your soldering skills then just get the x2lite or x2pro without the pogo pins. and if you do get the x2lite or x2pro pm me and I will get you set up with a bios and the other stuff you need to get you up and going If you can try to get an extra (pc) dvd drive or cd drive I will explain why later
