ps2 Reality Player

I finally ripped my first DVD (High Octane 3) onto Divx. (The latest codecs used)
I played on my PC and it worked fine.

But when i started it up using my ps2 (ps2 Reality Player)
It started skipping?!

I have used my usual budget media and I have had no problems as i use it for ps2 games.

Is this a media problem? Do you think this will happen to all my dvd ripped movies?

Is it the video or just audio skipping. It's been awhile since I've read up on PS2Reality, kinda was a big thing for me then I lost interest. From what I remember PS2Reality is knida picky. You need to have the framerate withing a certain range and this and that. Give us some more info and maybe someone will work it out. What program did you use to encode, Did you put audio to MP3, encoding bitrate?

I used SuperDvd Ripper, it did it all for me.
Not sure about the framerate or anything?
The Reality player has played other divx movies b4, i proably is the way it was ripped?

The skipping that is occuring is like someone pushing the pause button for a second then going back on. I dont think its the buffering cause i took the CD whilst playing and it carried on for awhile.

I aint to sure?!

I assume you use the three programs in DVD Copy Plus? Instaed of the last program included in that guide download the free program "Virtual Dub". Go to file, Open, then select your movie. Got to video, compression, then select Divx codec, most settings should be OK just make sure the encoding rate is in the 800s. Then select audio, full proccessing mode. Then select audio again, compression, and select MPEG layer 3, then select a bitrate from the list to the right. Then File and save as .avi. That is what I do every time and I never had a problem. Hope this helps.

I re doing the avi now. The bitrate was at like 700 (is that too low). I changed that aswell as MPEG for the audio, ill tell you how it goes.

Cheers

I don't know if it can be to low. Also be sure to do a good burn. It would hurt to do it at like 4X. I found early on that some of my fast burns didn't even boot al the time.

I burnt it at 8X. I havn't got many CDs left, so i probably wont make another copy yet.

I just ripped Saving Private Ryan using the same program, ill burn that at 4X and see what happens.

Sorry to here that. PS2Reality seems to be a really weired program. Back when I was trying to get it to work I could not get anything to work. Then I went back to one of my discs that I had tried like 20 times and never did anything, and it started to load but froze. Tried it like 5 more times and it started working, all off the same disc that didn't work to begin with. Nothing there really to do with your problem, just a little example of how you should keep trying. Good luck to you.

I was looking into my ripped divx files.
The resolution was something like 720 X sum other number.
I heard that TVs Resolution if like 640 X 480?
Could the my problem be, because of the resolution being too high?
I ran out of CDs, so i cant test it
But ill get around to it oneday and ill rip a DVD in 640 X 480.

Also none of CDRWs are working with the Media Player so i cant really test out the different resolutions etc...
