Angry Help with CC generals

Hey guys

I bought a 52x Liteon burner, used alcohol 120% to make a back up of generals and used Safedisc2 setting yet it didn't work....just appeared then disappeared when running. Downloaded the 1.0 patch and replaced the Game.dat file with the cracked and still nothing....help!!!. What am I doing wrong? Also I'm burning at 48X....very frustrated

First, your 1:1 copy may not be working due to the ATIP check - play the game in a non cd-writer or use "Ignore Media Type" in the Alcohol tray icon to play from a writer
For the crack to work you also need to download the fixed exe (generals.exe) for the game to work. So the two files that need to be replaced are generals.exe and game.dat

Ignore media traY

Hey

Thank-you for your response. Where is ignore media tray in Alcohol software....is this where the pull down menu reads customize and you can pick the protection. So for ignore it would read just customize?

No it is used after you have made the cd (when you want to play the game) - try reading Vluka's guide in the sticky topic for a brief overview of ATIP.
The feature can be found by right clicking on the Alcohol tray icon (bottom right of your screen) and you can find it there somewhere. You enable this before playing the game.
But I think it may be some other problem you are having so I suggest you follow the crack instructions.

Cracks

I'm going to have to download the cracks because I get the same results by turning off the ignore media typer and trying it in the cdrom.

It worked

Thanx for your help with CC generals...with the crack it worked. Now my question is everytime I download a patch do I also need to download a new crack for that patch?

Yes, every time. Incidentally, you can also make and run from a hard disk image with Alcohol120%. This will probably work better, since you don't need a safedisc 2 compatible burner to make or use the image, only to write it to cd. If this works, you won't need the cd in the drive AND you can use most any future patch without a crack.

Sounds good

Great. Has anyone made a 1:1 copy without putting it on the harddrive?

It can certainly be done, but you need a safedisc 2 compatible burner and then sometimes it's still tricky. Using a hard disk image almost always works, I even compress those images and put the resulting .rar file on a cd so I can have a working backup (I don't have a safedisc 2 compatible burner).

Cool CD Burner

I thought I had bought a Safedisc2 burner in the Liteon but CC Generals must have ATIP protection so I used the cracks and it works except with exveptionally long load times. Has anyone heard about CFS 3 yet.....when using clonyXXL the protection is Safedisc but I have been so far unsuccessful. I think what I'm going to do is re-burn it as an image with the cracks applied on a CD-R. Thanx for your help everyone
