You can't just rip the files then burn them to dvd.
Original dvd's are DVD-9 - they are dual layered and so can hold twice as much data as the DVD-5 that you use to burn.

So when you rip the files to the hard drive you will need to compress them in order to fit them onto a dvd. Use DVD2One or DVDShrink (it's free) to compress them

Once that is done, create two folders, one called VIDEO_TS the other called AUDIO_TS
Put all the files into the VIDEO_TS folder and leave the AUDIO_TS folder empty. Burn these two folders to a DVD and then they will work in your DVD player.

I usually don't even bother with making the Audio_ts folder. I just create the Video_ts folder and load my files into it and burn it. It works perfect everytime.

Is there a guide to DVDShrink? I have yet to use it.

Is it better than DVD2One?????

Thanks.

Sorry Iceman,
Have been abit slack on keeping up with the news and just saw your questions
I'm glad someone was able to help you with you questions, and you are now on track.
What brand of disks have you used? what sort do they sell at JB HiFi? any problems so far with picture breaking up?
I have used Laser from Austins $4:00 each if you get a pack of 20 and some break up in my Toshiba home player (not suppose to play DVD -R though but work fine in the new Pioneer which says it will play most DVD -R. Pioneer and TDK are about $9:00 too expensive but better quality.
Cheers Gav.

i dont even bother making a video ts folder once i have used dvd2one to compress the movie i use nero xpress to burn it. you select all the files you want to burn and nero auto arranges them. all the ones i have done work perfectley on my pc's / xbox's and standard dvd players
