Problems with backup games

I keep seeing this on all the backup games i try out. For some reason my screen color, brightness or gamma, gets really dark. I can change the settings back on my desktop properties to the previous settings and it looks alright untill I try to go play another game, and then the settings are all dark again. I am running an ATI 8500 on windows XP. Has any one else seen or heard of this problem and know of a solution to correct it?

And this doesn't happen with the originals ? This seems what you're saying but if it is, that's very weird.

yeah, it wont do it with the original. The only way I can get the system back to normal is by rebooting. Logging off the user and relogging on wont work already tried that. The only thing I can think of is that some of the games im trying to play might be on a different hardrive, on my ME partition and for some reason they are not getting the newer color levels, or if it has to do with the ATI control panel not refreshing correctly after ending a backup game. I think ill try a game on the XP hardrive after leaving a backup game. Its nothing detrimental to the system its just a pain in the arse to reboot after using a backup game.
