Does It Matter - What HARD DRIVE?
Do I have to get any specific Hard Drive to swap the original out of my XBox?
If there isn't a specific model HDD, are there specifications that the drive has to meet to work properly?

no, i don't thin kit matters, but drives that read faster usually mean faster loading times. Also, some generate more heat than others, so you might want to take that into account.

no specifications needed really it all dependins on what size, speed, and loudness u want

yep - just look for an IDE drive preferably larger than 10 GB
i can fully recommend the drive i have built into my box (check my sig) - it's a 5400 r/min, but it's really fast - never had the impression i had to wait for something to really load long and i also can't imagine a 7200 r/m drive to be significantly faster. the good thing about this drive is that it's very silent - it's actually less noisy than the one that came with my box and it's cheap (i paid $ 135). another thing is the heat problem which might be bigger with faster spinning drives - but i can't say anything about it except that i read many posts in various forums that nobody really ever had a overheating problem with 7200s

You can’t really see any more dramatic load time between a 5400RMP and an 7200RMP HDD, hell you prob. wont see one at all.

i beg to differ the difference ive seen, aint the difference in the hdd itself its the transfer rates

Okay you will see it when your transfering files, but in the game, you won't see it.

i just upgraded my very noisy quantum 30gb, to a maxtor 80gb, both at 7200 rpm.
The quantum was very noisy & got very warm The Maxtor stays alot cooler, and i had to put my ear on the drive, just to make sure it was running !!

the top three drives i think, in order, are Seagate, Maxtor, and Western Digital

Well you got that part right. At least Western Digital is in the list. 1) Western Digital 2) IMB 3) Seagate Western Digital is all I will EVER buy, thats all I have in my computers.
