About new dreamcasts - Will they play backups?

Sega lose quite a bit of money for each dreamcast they sell, its consumers buying dreamcast games that makes them money.

consumers who buy a dreamcast purely for pirate games cost sega money.

In addition developers are VERY reluctant to develop for a console which has no copy protection (rumour in the games industry has it this was the real reason for EA's actions)

because of this sega will try anything to close the dreamcasts loopholes,

The next batch of dreamcasts WILL have protection against Utopia's boot disk, but sega still haven't figured out how to stop echelons self boot process
