Question very long load times

i copied crash bandicoot wrath of cortex and the load times are horrible. however they are also very long on the original. another person i know has the same long loads with their original. is this game meant to have such long load times?? one more thing, do cd based ps2 games all make load squeeking noises when loading? my copies and originals all make the exact same sounds and i was just wondering if this was normal.

thanks

Yeah, Crash original and Back-up take long time to load.

If it making same noises for originals and backups I wouldn't worry about it. Only worry if backups making noise but originals silent.

Regards

Load times

Hey I got a backup of that game too and the same things happens, bandicoot keeps falling forever, and yes it does make that screeching sounds, but that seems to happen with all the cd based games I burn, so maybe I am using too cheap a media for that, no that many cd based games I like so no need to worry. Just switch channels while you wait for the load, hehe.

That game is silly silly in terms of load times.

Basically, it's a 1GB game. It was too big to fit on a CD, so instead of putting it on a DVD, they compressed the living s**t out of it. I mean, when you have already-compressed textures, the WORK the poor system has to do to decompress the "extra heavy" compression from 1GB to 450MB is just obscene.

This isn't the first time the Crash people have done something this bizarre though. Crash Team Racing was very poorly implemented as well, on the original PSX. All the music was done digitally, and uber-compressed. Lots of "bad sound effects", even on pristine originals if your laser wasn't at 100%.
