Lightbulb what's the most popular

Hi all,
Was just wondering what is the most popular dvd-r writer on this forum, for back-ups of movies and most importantly ps2 games.
Am about to by a pioneer A05, but also considering the toshiba every1 seems to like.

Any comments welcome.

Cheers

The A05 and the 105 are the EXACT SAME....

The only difference is that the A05 is the "retail" version that comes with software, cables, etc.... The 105 usually comes with the bare drive only..... BUT they are the EXACT SAME drive.....

You can't just slide your burner into your tower and expect it to work. You need to hook it up with a power cable and an ide cable. If you already have an extra of each of those hanging in your case then you don't need any additional cables. If you already have software and cables, just buy a 105. The A05 is the exact same except it costs more because you get cables and software. Think of the Cendyne as a Pioneer in a Cendyne box. That's all it is. The drives are identical. The Cendyne is even recognized as a Pioneer by your computer. So you can save even more money by buying a Cendyne 105.

Ritek is an awesome choice. Only about $1 a disc and they work perfectly. Traxdata is also an excellent choice. You have been here long enough hyungsup, don't you know these things?

If you want to burn -R media, the Pioneer seems to be the popular choice.

If you want to burn +R media, I highly recommend any burner that uses the NEC 1100A engine. (Plextor, for example.)

I'd avoid:

- Philips
- Ricoh

Those engines are... *sigh* poop.

I have a free power and ide cable in my pc....
But if I wanted to get more hard drives in my pc can I just install those cable???
I thought u can only put 4drives....
Well in my pc and the one before.....
And you really don't need the cd drive because 105 reads cd aswell....
And I don't know why I asked this....
Must have been on pots
I meant was are those disks good as riteks and traxdata....
They are much cheaper like nearly half the price of riteks I think....
If u buy loads of them there will be a lot of difference if u know what I mean
If it's similar quality I'd buy the samsung one.....
And last of all do u think 105 can burn dvd9s after years with firmware upgrade??
If not I'll rather buy a backup until dvd9 writers come out

1. No, 4 drives is the limit (on a standard non-RAID motherboard) without an extra controller. But you can always buy an external firewire drive.

2. You'll be waiting a LOOOONG time for DVD9 burners. The odds of a reliable burner punching through to the second layer without wrecking the first... anytime in the next couple years... is slim.
