use the search button and read the stickies, this topic has been covered.. and generally its a bad idea as when an update arrives and you need the virgin exe file to update from you are kind of screwed..

This is what I tend to do when crreating backups - and instead of a crack folder I have an Original Exe folder.

It can be done sometimes - you only have to locate where the original exe is located on the cd. Sometimes it is simply sitting in a folder, in which case you only need to replace it with the cracked one.

In other cases it is inside one of the installation cab files - to extract the original exe and/or to replace it with the cracked exe you will need a tool called i6comp (google is your friend). You will need to have the data1.cab, data2.cab and the associated hdr file.

This can be successful on most occasions but usually the installation performs a CRC check during the installation and notices that the file is incorrect. Some games will refuse to continue the installation, others will give you the option to Retry, Ignore, Abort, with Ignore being the option for you to choose.

Always test out the backup if you replaced something. Some games have easily accessible executables, but the installer does a crc check so the install won't work. So always test it to make sure it really works.
