Question 1:1 copies of new copyprotection impossible?

hello,
I read in a magazine (Chip) that it is impossible to make a 1:1 copy of a SD 2.80 game. Is that the truth,,

you may want to use a safedisc 2.80 game if you are going to see if you can back up 2.80.

Not if you believe the people on these forums :-)

At least one person claims so far to have used alcohol 120 to create a perfect 1:1 backup of C&C Generals that works in his non CDRW drive, even with emulation turned off, and ignore media type turned off...
and C&C Generals **IS** Safedisc2 2.80.xx
at least the one I have is :-)

the question is whether a 1:1 copy can be made. the answer is no. the disc may work, but its not 1:1. its not close.

I have tried to make a copy of C&C generals with clone cd. I garuntee you it wont work with clone cd. I gotta try alchohol 120 and get back to you.

p.s. the copy seems to perfect but the game wont run from it and neither does setup.

Safedisc 2.8 protected games can be copied perfecly with Alcohol 120% aslong as ur burner supports it. My Lite-On 48x has made atleast 5 perfect copies of SD 2.8 protected games. A couple that spring to mind are C & C Generals and Age of Mythology.

Check the list of burners at the elby site - www.elby.ch
You will be looking for two sheep in the EFM column that will signify perfect EFM coding. One sheep will signify almost perfect (Safedisk 2.4 and below).
