Zoo Tycoon: Marine Mania Installation solution
I've read in this forum as well as other forums throughout the web with people having problems installing Marine Mania for Zoo Tycoon. When they try to install the expansion, they receive a "Media Authentication Failed" message. I had the same problem for a bit until I figured out what I did wrong when I burned image from the HD to a cd. Before I burned, I added a small text file to the image using WinISO. That was pretty much the problem. It has to be burned unmodified. After I deleted the .txt file, it installed without any problems. Hope this helps anyone with the same problem.

Actually, a lot of Microsoft games have a protected installer. This means that the setup.exe (or install.exe or whatever) checks the disc for safedisc protection, and if anything is wrong, refuses to install. I think by adding the text file, you disrupted the copy protection. I'm not sure about this, but Microsoft tends to have protected installers. Maybe you could use cdkiller's protection scan utility on it, it can tell you what protection it has. If it's safedisc, there are programs to unpack the setup.exe so it will install from a changed media.

I didn't need to use anything other than clone cd. I read to image file from clone cd and then wrote from image file from clone cd. everything worked fine. Adding that txt file was a problem though.

When you use Clonecd, you make an exact copy, so the copy protection won't kick in. When you add something to that image, you displace important copy protection data and the install program will notice this. In other words, as long as you don't try to add anything to that image, you won't need a crack.
