Need help with Magic 3

I have a V7 ps2 with a Magic 3 w/ clip kit installed and I can't get it to play ps2 back-ups. It will play ps1 back-ups fine. Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem may be? Thanks

How are you trying to boot the PS2 backups..???
What media are you using?
What program are you using to create the backup?
Are these DVD or CD based games?

I have tried booting up by inserting the game and hitting reset as the directions say.
I am having problems with both dvds and cds. For the cd backups I used clone cd and memorex cdr's. With the dvds I have tried a bunch of different programs. I am using philips dvd+r and philips dvd+rw.

For PS2 cd based backups.... Use Clone CD like you have been, but get some better media..... Memorex is a toss up.... Works fine for some, and won't boot at all for others.....

For PS2 dvd based backups..... Use RecordNow Max and follow the tutorial at the top of this forum... You may also consider getting some Ritek +R format discs......

Are you 100% positive that you have a "GENUINE" Magic 3?????
There are ALOT of fakes out now......

I am not sure how to tell if it's a genuine magic 3. I have tried the tutorial with the recordnow max and had no luck.

The answer you will get from "most" on the forum is the Messiah 2...

That is the "TOP DOG" in chips..... You can't go wrong with it....

I have one...... There is nothing else that compares.....

Unfortunately.........

Its not in the forums BEST INTEREST to tell people where to purchase mod chips.......

This has been brought up by the recent developments that happened to isonews.........(aka SHUT down because of the selling of mod chips)

A little piece of advice....... Search older posts about the subject and you WILL FIND YOUR answer.......

NOTE: This subject has just been brought to my attention..... From what I understand, forum members should not discuss where or from whom to purchase mod chips......

In fear of the forum being shut down....... I will honor this request....

No..... At least not yet......

You will find that "clip kits" are JUNK..... They are notorious for being a problem....

If you can solder the wires that are required for a chip with clip kit, you can solder the 24 wires for the chip........

You will be much better off and have far LESS problems......

One thing i missed in that was the fact that you are supposed to power up from standby not just hit reset. If you just put the game in and hit reset the game wont boot. read the boot procedures and it will say that. The clips are crap but the magic 3 was blue.........they changed it to red when they went to 3.1

try putting the backup in, then holding the reset to put the ps2 on standby, then single tap the reset to power back on. The magic 3 will go to the browser once in a while and not boot but if you go back to standby and reboot it'll work eventually

hope that solves the problem!
