The Getaway, Ritek

I got some Riteks 2x. When i tried to backup The Getaway i couldent get it to burn faster than 1x. I have a Pioneer 105 with firmware V1.21. I used the Nero CD Speed V1.02 and it says RitekG03 (burns at 1x). Has anyone managed it to burn at 2x with the Pioneer 105 and firmware V1.21?

RitekG03 have been "black listed" with firmware 1.21 they no longer burn at 2x with the 105 and fw 1.21, however there are some hackers working on a hack for this drive. You can read some more posts about it here.

Crap, now i have to use the 4x Ritek's. I thought you guys used the 2x Ritek's and managed it to burn at 2x..... ?

Not anymore, I was able to burn G03s at 2x with my 105 and firmware 1.00, but I upgraded my firmware to 1.21 and can no longer burn my G03s at 2x, and of course you can't downgrade from 1.21 back to 1.00. The pioneer 104 and the sony dru500 can burn them at 2x.

Have you tried downgrading? You can do it with the A04.....

I have tried downgrading, but you can't. Pioneer themselves warn you that you can't downgrade after upgrading to fw 1.21. Hope prices come down soon for 4x media.
