MOD Chip Advice?

I'm sure this gets asked all the time, but I have a specific question...

I have a v5 PS2 (GT3 A-Spec bundle) which CURRENTLY has a Neo2.5+DVD in it.

I'm sick and damn tired of doing double-swaps to play my DVD backups, so I'm considering getting a newer chip.

Here's my question:

1. What chips are recommended right now?

2. Is there any way for me to get away for cheap without soldering 30+ wires? I'd prefer 10 or less, but I really don't want to pay $75 for a chip.

3. What's a good reputable place that won't take 8 weeks to send it but also won't get busted tomorrow (a la ISONews)?

P.S. I'm on east coast USA, if that helps recommending a place. My system is NTSC, of course.

The chip everyone will recommend on this forum will be the Messiah 2!
Its best to get a pro install it for you. I think its got 24 wires or something.
Messiah 2 is the best and has no problems with games (boots dvd-r and CD-r)

There isn't any no solder no swap chips.
You can order a Messiah for charlie_ps2 or dust2dust

No no, you misunderstand.

I've chipped every CD-based console I've ever owned (with the exception of the Sega Saturn), so I'm certainly not afraid of the business end of a soldering iron.

I simply feel that the more wires, the more room for a problem. 24 isn't TOO bad, but 12 would be better, you get my drift?

So we have a couple recommendations for the Messiah 2. Is there anything else to consider? I hear people talking about Magic 3 and whatnot...?

P.S. I assume charlie and dust are users here on the forum? What would such a beastie run me?

Well, consider yourself warned about the install.

Magic 3 is not as refined as Messiah 2 in my book. So I would stick with Messiah 2.

That's fine, I think the Messiah 2 is cheaper anyway.

Thanks for the info.
