Here we go again! C&C Generals 1.03

Greetings all

I'm so sorry to bother you all with this trifle of a thread, but I'm having a big problem with the game that I hope some of you can help me with.
It goes something like this: I install the game, patch it with the 1.03 and try to use the newest of the no-cd cracks and fixed-exes. But when I try to start the game I get the message: "You must restart the computer in order to finish the patch"-ish. Now, after I've rebooted the f*cker, I get the same message when I try to enter the game.
I've tried all the different no-cd-patches and everytime with the same result. I've even tried the game.dat files from the new ones and combine them with the fixed .exe from the old patches - and it doesn't work either.

I hope someone knows what the problem is

Aaarg.... can't anyone help??? My cd-drive is sh*te, my hands are trembling and my vision is getting cloudy... plz, pretty plz help...

I'd give up with all the damn cracks. C&C generals seems to get an update about each week, so every time you'll have to hunt for and test a new crack. Throw all those away and use Alcohol120% to run it from the hard disk. And hey presto, EVERY future patch will work. You can come back here between rounds of playing online generals and read the posts of all those poor souls who spend their days begging for the latest crack. It's your choice really, but I would use Alcohol120%, as I already do for bf1942.

c&c:generals - get the cracked generals.exe from the v 1.0 crack
update game to v 1.03, get the 1.3 crack, copy the game.dat from the rar the crack came in, overwriting the original game.dat.. sorted

It doesn't work... But thanks anyway for the tip

I've tried all possible combinations, with all released cracks. Haven't anyone experienced anything like this?

I never see this problem... But I want to post my probs:P I know there is some post there who ask the same question but nobody answer. I Install the game, patch it to 1.03, Use the latest crack to play without Cd, I log in multiplayer, in the lobby and I can chat but I can't play with other people. The game always say I use a different version... Anyone know what I can do ? I try to use daemon tool but it's not a 1:1 image so this not work...

I've installed Alcohol120% 1.4.0 (Build 103), but I can't seem to run it without a crack anyway. How do u do that?

Read the thread titled "VLuka's FAQ", it contains a wealth of information. You can use Alcohol120% to make an image of the original cd on the hard disk, and you can use the same Alcohol120% to mount (load) this image as a "virtual" cdrom drive. In this way the game will work as if you're using the original disc, so you can use all patches without needing a crack.
