is it possible to use a xbox link cable to ftp?

i know the x box link cable is a simple cross over cable....but can you use it to link up to your pc and ftp it?

if its a cross over cable you will be ok if its straite pin to pin cable it will not work.

ok i just did that and it says theres no connection...i dont think its the firewall because i turned that off...im on win xp home edition...any ideas?

so far ive moddded xboxes with:
2 Matrixes
3 Xbits

My xbox!:
-250 gig
-XBIT
-4981.06 x2
-orange led for light, matching beautifully with the orange x in the splash screen
-Component cable

my problem...solved?!:
-one of my friends says he can get about 450 files off it!... and now i havent seen him for about 4 months..and ive written him like 11 emails.. WHERE THE HELL IS HE?! :mad:

it does seem wierd...im certain the firewall is turned off and the pc ix detecting there is a network yet it aint connecting

Yes, it will work. One crossover is the same as another. You must have some other problems. Try typing "ping (insert Xbox address here)" to see if you can get any connection to it.

well i tried pringing it and aint finding it...is it ok to use ethernet connections?

Ethernet connections? I don't really know any other possible way to connect to an Xbox.

You are doing at least one of the following wrong:

using the wrong cable - like a cross when you need straight or vice versa

using a bad cable

using the wrong IP address

mistyping the IP address

using wrong protocol

Check all of these things but if I had to take a wild guess I would probably say you are trying the wrong address. What address, what kind of cable and whats on each end of it would help.

the adress the x box is giving me is 192.168.0.157

i'm using the offical x box link cable, each ends seem t fit in my pc and the x box

ok i have tried updating flash fxp and still nothing...is it possible to actually connect to the x box without having the internet on?

Hmm. The internet has nothing to do with networking your computer and Xbox. If you have an internet connection while connecting to the Xbox does this mean you have 2 NICs in your comp? Or are you using a hub, switch, or router?

all i'm using is a cable connected from the pc going straight to the xbox

it seems if i try to connect to the xbox through flash fxp while my internet is off it wont even attempt to connect to it
