Hi, I was wondering whats the best No Swap, easy to install Modchip that works on all versions =) I was thinking maybe the Magic 3.1, as they are cheap.

Also when buying a DVD burner me and my friends were thinking of pitching in and getting a Pine Pioneer USB 2.0 External DVD-RW Drive. That way we can move it from house to house when we need it. will this drive get the job done of burning games?
If not can someone recommend a good failry non expensive drive to burn games. (doesnt have to be external but would help)

and as for media whats the best to use?

hey afterlife there are NO easy to install NO-SWAP mods out. the easy to instal 1 wire/ no-solder are swap mods. If i were you i would get a messhia 2 from charlie and get it installed by bill@freedomlives . as for the burner i am not sure about the one u were thinking of but the price on the poineer AO4 has dropped alot. i would recomend that for your ps2 needs.

Messiah 2's are like 80$ and then plus installation and s&h no way. I can get 7 Magic 3.1's for 190$ dividied between me and my friends and well install them ourselves. I cant afford to spend 400$ on gettin a modchip. My ps1 only cost me 50$ when i had it done yrs ago.

Actually Messiah 2 is only $58 from charlie or dust. There are numerous problems with magic chips. You pay a little more for the Messiah 2, but you don't have to worry about running into problems like you do with magic chips. It is well worth the extra money. if you can install a magic 3.1 you can install a Messiah 2 no problem.

I cant install anything, I have a frindd who can solder fairly well so im gona let him take a crack at it.

What problems do magic 3.1s have?

If your friend tries to do an install make sure he ha sthe equipment suggested in the messiah 2 installation instructions. The fine tip solodering iron and small wire are icredably important. Both for ease of installation and to avoid damage to your console.

Some games skip or simply don't boot. These same backups play perfectly fine with a Messiah 2.

7 chips for 190$? Compared to 5 messiah for like 300$? If you know of someone who gives deals and the such then maybe.

Also how hard is it to install yourself? There is a guy in my town who advertises he can do it. So i visited his website and hes selling the magic 3.1 chips for 38 each (7 for 190) but if i want it installed its like 90$ Im not gonna pay 50$ more for installation, becos once i convert that into canadian thats 150$.

Charlie and Dust could send you 5 messiah for $250 US. I have the magic chip but have installed a few messiah now and would definelty say the messiah is a much more reliable chip.

if i was u i would go with getting a apple chip b4 i would magic 3.1 cause apples just bout as good as messiha2 and cost 1/2 the price i bought one for 35$ thats with s/h so far i never seen any one on here complain about there apple chip but i have seen quit a few complaints about the magic 3.1
