As long as it keeps the movie in dvd format, the ps2 will be able to play it. If it converts it to divx, then you will need PS2 Reality Player to play them on your ps2.

If it converts from to DVD to cd, all its doing is going from dvd to vcd. VCD can't be played on the ps2. I take that back i've seen it done, but it involves several hours of work, and it can only play very small segments. If you were to keep it as dvd format, you could probably do it and break it up over several discs. Then you'd have to burn something called a miniDVD, or cDVD. One 650 meg cd will hold roughly 15 minutes of movie, and a 700 meg holds 16 minutes. Unfortunatly the ps2 doesn't support that either. Your best bet is to convert to divx and go that route, or use a DVD burner.

DVDx 2.0 That program will convert right from dvd to divx, assuming you have the divx codec. If not www.divx.com has it. Converting to divx right from dvd drive can but extra strain on the drive. I recomend getting Smart Ripper to rip the files, and converting them from your hard drive. Going this route requires roughly 6 gigs of empty space. Either way you will get pretty much as close to DVD quality as humanly possible.

Smart Ripper guide

DVDx guide (just ignore the chapters part)

If you want to do straight from DVD follow above proceedure above, but instead of opening IFO file, go to open DVD root, and select the longest, or figure out which one you want (ie if you have 16x9 and 4x3 on the same disc)
