problem with DVDXCOPY

IM trying to backup BraveHeart which will fit on one disc. When I go to burn to dvd-r it gives me a stop, saying it won't fit onto a "cd". But I don't have a cd in the drive, I have a dvd-r. I know it's not the media because I have backed up many dvd's with them (ritek). Anyone ever have this problem.
