ps2 / xbox &dvd+rw

Hi iam new to this forum and didn't know which section to post this but here goes anyway.
I am thinking of buying a ps2 or xbox , i have a dvd+rewriter , if i was to make a backup of an original game on a dvd+rw disc would it be compatable with either console , and if so what would i need to be able to play the game , as in boot disc or mod chip etc etc. any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

dvd+r would work, dvd+rw would most likely not work due to its low reflectivity

If you buy a new ps2 and get it modded, Messiah 2 is best, you should be able to play +r and +rw backups no problem.

platinum: It was early versions of PS2s that had problems with both +r and +rw.

i have a xbox dvd+rw does work but not very well. you would be better off getting a dvd-r burner for either console.
