The Problem with Xenosaga

I know this problem's been discussed before, but my burned copy of Xenosaga refuses to boot, and there's nothing wrong with my machine: all other games play perfectly. It just opens into the browser screen, and stays there. Some insist that the modchip on my V7 SCPH 39002 PS 2 (magic 2, I think: hold reset until PS 2 logo appears to change formats) isn't able to run DVD9 games.

Is this true?

Some even say that modified PS 2's cannot run either original or burned copies of Xenosaga.

In short, is there any possible way for my modded PS 2 to play the game (get an original copy, reboot as many time as necessary, wait until they have a better burned version, etc.)?

I've been waiting for a long time to play this fricking game.

Thanks in advance!
