networking, desperate help

hey,

i am totally new to networking!

obviously to backup xbox games i am going to have to sort myself out.

I want to network the xbox to the pc. What exactly do i need,
can anyone give me actual products and prices, as cheap as possible. The product names would be good, cause there are all these things like hubs and routers, i dont know where to start!

exact requirementls would be good.

First off you’re going to need a NIC (Network Interface Card) in your computer. You can get one at your local computer store.
Then you will need a crossover cable, if your going right from your XBox to your computer. This can also be found at your local computer store.

As for prices… I cant really help you there, seeing how every computer store is different.
A NIC and a crossover cable should cost to much.

hey

if u are using a basic connection...nic card is about 4.95 at ur local staples store(after rebates)as for a CROSSOVER CABLE(ps DO NOT BYE A NETWORK CABLE WITH STRAIGHT CONNECTION)it depens how big u want it...10 foot one is about 7.95 at circuit city and 19.99 for a 25 foot one at ur local radio shack

so far ive moddded xboxes with:
2 Matrixes
3 Xbits

My xbox!:
-250 gig
-XBIT
-4981.06 x2
-orange led for light, matching beautifully with the orange x in the splash screen
-Component cable

my problem...solved?!:
-one of my friends says he can get about 450 files off it!... and now i havent seen him for about 4 months..and ive written him like 11 emails.. WHERE THE HELL IS HE?! :mad:
