Unhappy Necronomicon crack

Hi there, I downloaded the crack for Necronomicon, and, while is working brilliantly on Win98, it doesn't work at all on XP, I got the message ...necrono.exe is not a valid win32 application.
I'm quite ignorant about these things, could someone explain to me if cracks might work just in one system and not in another one?
Thanks a lot!

Well, yes there are occasionally problems with cracks working under W95/w98/Me and not under W2000/WXP, and vice versa. I notice the game is getting close to two years old and is protected with Securom. Problem is, I know that there was an Unsecurom unpack program, that produced executables that will never work under W2000/XP. It seems like this is one of those. Your only options are 1) hoping one of the resident crackers takes pity on you and tries to correct the crack, or 2) Use CloneCD/Daemon Tools/Alcohol120% to make an image of the ORIGINAL cd and mount that. This last option will always work, but you need of course the original cd (and no doubt you've got that, right ?). Or option 3) Dual boot to w98 each time you want to play the game.

Thumbs up Necronomicon!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks thanks thanks!!!!
It's working perfectly on XP now!!!!!!
OF COURSE I have the original CD, Wizard!!!!
But I want to keep copy of the games I like most....
just in case they got ruined....
Anyway, problem sorted thanks to Cirkutz, very saving grace, I am always scared to use Daemon Tools or others, I read all the instructions once and I found them too complicated!!!
My neverending gratitude to you boys!!!

Good thing Cirkutz had a corrected version lying around. And as for my comment about the original cd, if you saw like me how many people come here without one, you'd also give (friendly) hints. Now, have fun with your game, but I don't really understand what you've got against Daemon Tools, I can assure you that it's VERY easy to use. Well, to each his own I guess...

Daemon Tools.....

OK, I will have another look at the instructions for Daemon Tools, and forced myself to read them till the end...maybe I will try it, soon or later!
As for the original CD, I have to confess that once I bought a game called Liath for few pounds, found out that was quite a rare game, so I decided to sell it on Ebay and I kept a copy for myself...now I wonder:is this illegal?Probably it is, but I think if I'm not selling this game to anyone but just keep it for myself, what harm am I doing???????
