Age of Mythology does not work

Hi friends,
I am new here and hope, you can help me.

I made a backup copy of my AoM original. I found a nocd exe which worked to watch the intro but then there is an error.
I tried the same with the AoM of a friend of mine, who installed it with the same nocd on his computer and it worked.
I have XP and he has ME. Do I have a chance to run it on XP?

Best regards
mzeim

Is this perhaps a feature of the 1.02 patch to stop people with pirate copies playing online?

I solved the problem

I found a startoption "video save" . That was working but I had no sound
Then I looked where this link leeds to (Eigenschaften - donīt know how MS calls that in English) and found out that it was the AOM.exe but with some excuesions. I ereased the excluesion "no sound" and then it worked perfectly.
When I start it that way, I have no intro but the game is running.
I think there might be a copy check in the intro which is left out in that way

Thanks for your help

It sounds like there's a problem with the video codec, the program that's used to play the little movies on disc. I don't know which codec is used by AOM, there's Smacker (.smk), Bink (.bik), and a few others. Could you tell me what extension AOM's video files have ? Look out for names like 'intro'...

Thumbs up File type

The intro file is a .bik file. However meanwhile also the standard start.exe works. I will never understand microsoft products
But everything is fin now - never look a gift-horse in the mouth.

Thank you and best regards
