Dear Proofreader
To copy disc #one use Alcohol, and use a cd-recorder that is known to write using correct EFM encoding. This can be checked at clonecd's website. make sure the burner you are using has a two sheep rating. If it does not order a LiteOn from www.newegg.com . Check the LiteOn cd-recorder before ordering as well. Then fire up Alcohol and select skip reading errors, Fast skip Error Blocks, and read sub channel data. This worked for me. I have no reason for selecting those check boxes except that it worked. Copy the second cd with ANYTHING nothing should fail. Good luck and I am out for the night in 60

Just a note to people having trouble copying disk 2. It REQUIRES a 700MB CDR to write to. 650MB CDR's aren't gonna work. I think it needs something like 671MB to write the CD.
THAT is probably why disk 2 ain't workin' for some of ya. What I tend to do with my originals is this: Install game, update, install NoCD fix, put originals away for safe-keeping. I tend not to worry about copying the game. BUT. If you try to copy the game and it won't play, BUT DID let you install it, you're fine, pop in the NoCD fix and the game will work from the copies because it is NoCD fixed now and doesn't check the protection anymore. Hence, a BACKUP copy of the game! Hope this clears up this silly discussion already  .

@locchamp Use the Temp Directory method. Either read this thread, search the forums using the words 'Temp Directory' or go over to the Newbie Hints at Gamecopyworld.

i went to gamecopyworld.com and i downloaded the c&c generals v1.2 and the directions say to apply the c&C generals patch then replace the game.dat file, now where do i get the patch?it says to get? the only file i see that says patch is the C&Cgenerals online patch and if it is that one i dont understand hoiw to do all those directions?which or where is the patch?is that all i have to do is get the patch then replace the game.dat file whith the C&Cgenerals v1.2 game.dat???????????please help i am close?????

Download the patch from the official game site - it's the 1.02 patch, it should be around, or on their ftp.
Then continue with the cracking instructions (use deviance 1.0 generals.exe and the gimpsrus 1.02 game.dat)
