HP8200 is it ****?

Hi. i've got a hp8200. the model # according to clone cd and the diagnostic prog that comes with it is 8200a. the manual says its an 8250i. i reckon its prob an 8200i.

the problem is that whatever the model #, it says that its supposed to be able to read/write in DAO+96 (RAW+subchannel) but when i use clonecd it says it isn't compatible with reading subchannel from data tracks or it just finds a disk full of read errors.

Has anyone else encounterd this problem or knows what's up and could help. It would be much appreciated. Ta.

Not sure about your subchannel reading error, but the "disk full of read errors" is normal if you are trying to copy a Safedisk game. The read errors are around about sectors 800-10000 on the disk. Read the sticky topic in the PC Games section on how to copy games.

You have a HP 8250i and it is RAW-DAO16 which means it isnt 100% compatable with clonecd.

*sigh*

no.

i do indeed have an 8250i but i can read compatibility lists before posting topics. It is fully compatible with 8250i which can read/write DAO+96.

i am tired and therefore sound unappreciative of help, but when that help is useless and uninformed....well...

i have since tracked down the problem myself. the problem was i was using incompatible drivers for my IDE controller, so if any1 else has, or has ever had, this problem that i described then the solution is to change ide drivers which should be straightforward (but in my case needed a full reformat).

so 2 valuable lessons have been learned by myself.
1. ALWAYS fully read helpfiles provided with apps before asking for help at forums. and
2. never use fooking forums.

  • What a fricking jerk!!! If you had looked at www.elby.de you SHOULD have noticed there are 2 different hp8250i drives. One's compatable and one isnt. If you were as smart as you think you are you would simply click on clone cd, select the drive and it will tell you if its 100% compatable but i'm sure you will figure it out, One things for sure, i wont help you again!
