Trouble with DVD Player 2.12
I just tried installing sony's DVD PLayer 2.12 that comes with the remote. It begins installing but about 25% of the way it says installation failed terminated. Could this be because of the chip?

I think you need about 2mb of available space on your memory card to install it.

originally tried it on an expanded card with about 27meg left. Thought the expander might interfere so I tried another. The other is empty except for the Mortal Kombat DA file. By the way, any way to moce this file?

Are you using an official Sony memory card or third party? Where do you want to move the file to?

I think you might have a move option when in the browser and have both memory cards inserted. There could be a conflict with the dvd upgrade and your third party cards. Try using both and see if you have any luck.

When both cards are in there is a copy option but it says that it can't be copied. when you enter that file it says that it is copy protected. just thought there might be a trick around it. even tried savoing to another card in game, doesn't work either. As for installing to the cards. I have tried both with and wothout the expander. Still gets about 1/4 the way through and same message installation failed, terminating.

Not sure about copying the file
For installing the new driver, try to borrow a buddies Sony memory card and see if you have any luck.

Yeah. Unfortunately no-one builds memory cards like sony does and I mean that literally!!
If u got a driver made by sony, for a sony playstation2 it probably only likes sony mem cards. Another thing about the driver...............According to sony the only thing that the driver that comes with the remote does is make earlier versions of the PS2 compatible with the remote and not as is popular belief would suggest fixes any bugs / conflicts that cause certain dvd's not to work. Anyone know any more on this???

Turns out I was thinking that you needede to install the driver in order to use slow motion and multiple speed fast forward and rewind. I knew they did work with controller so thought they needed to be installed. Turns out I tried it with the remote and they work, so I don't need it installed. On a funny note when I firsy thought that maybe the chip was detected somehow and that was messing up the install i tried to turn it off by holding reset for 5 sec. Then after a couple tries realized, Oh yeah I put the messiah chip in my brothers PS2 not mine!
