I don't doubt that it's worth it! The principle amount invested can easily be made up for once the PS2 is chipped and ready for action. Currently, I've got a no-solder modchip (which I installed...) that only allows CD-R's to boot and only in conjunction with a GS2 Disc. I will feel much better when the PS2 will direct boot the DVD-R backups I've made.
BTW, bighap; If memory serves, I BELIEVE I have a V4 PS2. Do you know weather or not the Messiah 2 is compatible? Great info, thanks. PowerLoaf2001
