macrovision

when i play a region 2 (europe) dvd i can record it onto a video but when i record a region 1 dvd macrovision kicks in and i cant record the dvd onto video. not really important but i was just wondering why this happens

the idea of it was meant to be to avoid copying dvd to to tape...not sure why its happening on dif region dvds though

thats what i always thought macrovision was supposed to do. what is macrovision then?

just a protection sceme, i think if you use your original ps2 wires it would not turn on however if you used an rgb scart cable to get the best possible picture it would turn itself on as to muck up copying your dvds to tape

some dvds players tend to do it today

but if you get certain chips like messiah it turns it off, or the dvd region cd will turn it off

messiah doesnt turn it off.

only the upcoming DMS3 and Neo 4.x turn off macrovision.
