Need Help from the experts

I am currently trying to copy UT 03 and Hitman2 by way of alcohol 120%. I plugged in the proper copywrite protocol as Securom *New* 4.8x and used all the default settings and changed nothing. I initiated the process and it starts to copy the image to the C drive. The DPM progress gets to 77% and then just stoped there and sits forever.
I then read all the poop in a thread on DPM. My problem was that I was trying to read the UT03 disk with my read only AOpen 56K CD Rom. It got to 77% and would not read and complete at any read speed.
So I switched to my memorex writable CD and left it in the max read mode and it read it fine and complete and copied the UT03 image to the HD. The file is there and all seemed to go just great. I then burned an image from the HD using alcohol 120% with my memorex onto a blank CD. It too seemed to go just perfectly.
However, when I try to run the game with the CD from either drive, the game tries to start but won't. I can begin the install procedure from the burned CD and even read the read me files but it won't support the running of the game so I have made great progress but still have something I'm not doing quite right.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?
MIke

I will take a look at try it again using emulation. I assume that is a feature you enable in the alcohol program during the read and /or wirite phase? Mike

@ thehandler, I have backed up hitman 2 a 1.1 copy (no need for nocd crack) with clonyxxl 2.0.0.6 english version and clone cd v4.1.0.1. It was as simple as click on scan cd (using clony) and then start clone and choose the clony icon from within the settings and hey presto. If you have no luck with the software you are currantly using then why not give the two nammed proggies a go? Hope this info is some use to you

Anyone interested, you can find an english version of ClonyXXL 2.0.0.6 here. This is to my knowledge one of the last versions that includes the ability to automatically make a profile for CloneCD. The later versions don't include this ability any more for legal reasons.

Edit : Hey coffin filler, I was six minutes faster with my link

emulation EMULATES the protection - when you install / play.

Donīt use CloneCD for Hitman2 - even if it works for some ppl, it is a simple bug in release version of Hitman2 copy protection, i.e. those backups will fail after update for sure!
You should have no problems using Alcohol with its SecuROM4.x profile (including DPM), and write the image to cd-r with RMPS, so backup will work like original if RMPS emulation is enabled (even on computers not having Alcohol installed you can use such backup with Daemon Tools RMPS emulation!).

Would it not be poss that when people sign up to become a member they are automaticly taken to the rules ect. This way would hopefully prevent some of the stupid requests that are posted here ie where can i get key code for on line play, ect ect.

Thanks guys for your comments. Ok, here is what I did. I haven't tried Hitman2 yet, still working on UT03. I enabled emulation. In fact, there is an option to enable several different kinds of emulation and I just checked them all. Sure enough, I tried to run the game from the new burned CD and it did run and worked pretty well. BUT, I am not having a terrible problem with freezing and artifacts and tearing. Here is what I am wondering.
Does it matter which CD ROM I use to run the new disk. I have a writable obviously and a read only. I have been using the read only. Also, I heard once that there may be a problem reading some CD's if you have DMA enabled for the device in device manager.
Finally, the emulation program (Alc. 120%) must be installed to the same drive obviously, but must it be running in the background or just installed? There must be some reason for the game crashing when it never crashed before. Thank you all. MIke

The only thing I know about Hitman2 is that lots of people had problems with the EAX sound option. IIRC you had to edit a configuration file somewhere and put in a line that disables EAX. But graphics tearing and such is no good sign, do you overclock your graphics card ? What kind of card is it anyway ?

Ok on the HM2. I am using a Radeon 8500 retail board with Omega drivers. But like I said, never had a problem until I tried running the new Burned CD. And no, I am not oc'ing my board. So I am perplexed at what it could be. I didn't know if any of you guys ever experienced changes in the graphics when using a back up cloned CD. Thanks Rince and others for the help. Mike

So, the original cd doesn't have this problem ? If that works, you can always try to make an image on the hard disk and mount it in Daemon Tools, to check if the image was done right before you try to burn it. If all this doesn't help, I'm stumped. I never saw a game having graphical troubles on a copy and the original not.

Yes Rinc correct. the original works just fine. Only the backup has these issues. That is why I wondered if there is an issue with which drive I used or the enabling of DMA for the drives.
I will try your suggestion and see if that gets me any further.
By the way, I am just dying over the dumb pirate of the month quote. That person needs a serious grammar and english 101 update. I wonder if he can dowload that? :-) Mike
